Attorney Nickolas D. Owen

An associate attorney at the Smith Law Office, Nickolas D. Owen brings a diverse legal background to his practice serving victims of injury in Columbus and throughout Central Ohio.
Mr. Owen is a 2005 graduate of The Ohio State University and a 2009 graduate of Capital University Law School in Columbus. While in law school, he received the Robert Weiler Company Scholarship and completed concentrations in both Civil Litigation and Labor & Employment Law. He received the CALI Award for Constitutional Litigation and was the Primary Oral Advocate for the Labor and Employment Law Moot Court Team.
While in law school, Mr. Owen interned at the Ohio Attorney General's Office in Columbus, conducting research on federal and state case law and drafting memoranda on numerous employment law topics. Following graduation, he worked for several Ohio law firms and practiced in numerous courts throughout Ohio, handling cases in a diverse range of practice areas including personal injury, criminal defense, workers' compensation claims, insurance subrogation matters and employment litigation. He joined the Smith Law Office in 2017.
Nickolas Owen is licensed in Ohio (2009) and was admitted to practice in both the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in 2010. His credentials include more than a million dollars recovered for hundreds of personal injury clients. Mr. Owen was also a presenter at the 2016 annual convention of the Ohio Association for Justice on the topic of personal injury claims for lost wages and loss of future earning capacity.
